Return to Deacon’s Corner

Deacon Alan’s Corner

Love is patient,
love is kind.
It is not jealous,
love is not pompous,
it is not inflated,
it is not rude,
it does not seek its own interests,

it is not quick-tempered,
it does not brood over injury,

it does not rejoice over wrongdoing
but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.

1 Corinthians 13:3-7

I would like to know if Father Frank or Deacon Allen have a copy of John Allen’s book “the Francis Miracle” that I could borrow. $90 for this book is too rich form my blood and it’s a must read!!

    1. I do not have this book. It is available from Amazon (if you order using the link from this website the Building Fund benefits). FYI a link is provided showing the options available)

I am giving a talk on Eucharist and the building I will be in does not have wifi. Is there any way that I can download the movie “The Bridge” to my laptop so I can use it in the presentation. I purchased the DVD “Most” however it does not have the voice overs with the captions on it that I find so powerful in the clip that you provide.

    1. I don’t have WiFi either. I have connected my DVD player to a projector and a home theatre amp. Alternatively, I can connect my laptop to a set of usb speakers and the projector. If I need to, I use 2 programs, DVD-Shrink and another to un-encrypt (I can’t find it on this computer for some reason). Both are legal freeware programs. You need DVD-Shrink because most DVDs are dual layer and too large for standard single layer DVDs. As DVDs are usually encrypted for copy protection, you will probably need an decryption program. I have never downloaded a movie so I can’t advise from experience.
I have almost all the movies on DVD for the trailers, but not all. I do not have “The Bridge” nor “Most”.

  1. St. Leo’s website is undergoing some renovations, just like our church. Hopefully the site will be better than ever!

  2. Nice set of links, thanks!
